BLOODLINES by Richelle Mead

“The greatest changes in history have come when people were able to shake off what others told them to do.”

Blood doesn't lie...

Sydney is an alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of human and vampires. They protect vampire secrets - and human lives. When Sydney is torn from her bed in the middle of the night, at first she thinks she's still being punished for her complicated alliance with dhampir Rose Hathaway. But what unfolds is far worse. Jill Dragomir - the sister of Moroi Queen Lissa Dragomir - is in mortal danger, and the Moroi must send her into hiding. To avoid a civil war, Sydney is called upon to act as Jill's guardian and protector, posing as her roommate in the last place anyone would think to look for vampire royalty - a human boarding school in Palm Springs, California. But instead of finding safety at Amberwood Prep, Sydney discovers the drama is only just beginning...

To be honest, I didn't know what push me to read this book. It lacks something but was good enough anyway. It was very interesting reading the aftermath of Vampire Academy in the perspective of a human. It enlightened some of my views about VA and I come to realize how good that story was.

Anyway, The thing was that I really was clueless to whom Sydney would get partnered with because this book lack romance which is fine because the story is interesting in a mystery way but with so many guys surrounding Sydney I cannot come up with a conclusion.

Still, I like it especially the revelations in the ending. A lot of questions would be put in a reader's mind at the first half of this book. It's a nice strategy to keep the interest of the readers. I also like the cameos of the characters in VA especially of Rose and Dimitri. I love those two very much that everytime their names are being mentioned I can't help but remember and reminisce the scenes in Vampire Academy.

I love how it ended. How Dimitri would complicate the improvement in Adrian.. It's cute and it gives the reader a reason to read the second book. Dimitri is a nice touch to add since that guy is well-loved in VA.

Now that I'm thinking about it, Mead really has a weird writing style but it's really helpful and cute in a way. Like in Bloodlines were any romance was not given any focus instead it's really all about Sydney as a person. It was like she was introducing Sydney to us and persuading us in Mead's way to love her now as her main character. It's brilliant.

Mead was able to start and end Bloodlines far way better than she did in Vampire Academy.

Now, I'm looking forward to what will happen next to the characters left in the story. In how the previous main characters in VA now acting as the supporting characters in Bloodlines would be help in this story and how they would make an amazing plot that would hook its readers.

Hoping for romantic touch in the next book though. :)

"Dimitri Belikov has arrived."
