VAMPIRE ACADEMY by Richelle Mead

“If I let myself love you, I won't throw myself in front of her. I'll throw myself in front of you.”

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

I heard this book while I was reading the Covenant Series. They say the Covenanant was a ripped-off from Vampire Academy so I had to see it myself. I was hesitant to read it because I am not a big fan of Vampires. It weirded me out on so many levels. Like omygod, drinking blood, so weird. But like what I did with the Covenant Series, I pushed myself to read it.

I can attest that Covenant Series do have a lot of similarities with Vampire Academy... Too much similarities that you can't blame readers for calling it a ripped-off. But tho there are lots of similarities, the two series are completely different and unique in its own fantastic way. Both have their own elements like in the Covenant it is with the Gods and in Vampire Academy... well with Vampires. It doesn't really matter at all if it is too similar. Nothing is ORIGINAL anyway, all works are copied from one and turned into your own.

Well, since I've finished the covenant series I was kinda craving for a more similar story with it so I started reading Vampire Academy. I actually had fun reading it except the blood tho. Vampires still freaked me out. I'm only thankful that the stroy does not really focus on the gruesome or need of vampires. hohoho.

The flow of the story kinda is not that good. I find there are elements lacking. It's like you are suppose to be given something but ended up nothing. My problem was just the techniques in writing. Cool story still.

Regarding the story, I find it cool and interesting. Not yet with the romance or the kick-ass actions but the first did got the feeling of stirring you up or preparing you for the series. That was good.

The characters. I like Rose and Dimitri. I hope their romance blooms sometime in the story. I also want Rose to become more of a kick-ass girl. I don't like it when she gets to careful that kinda lose the excitement od the story. I love it when she is reckless and unpredictable.^^ Regarding, Lissa. Hoho, I don't like that she is too important in the story. Man, I love her but I want her dying in any part of the Series so there would be more forbidden romance between Rose and Dimitri. hohoho.

Well, anyway. I still don't have any idea where this story is going but I'll keep reading it. ^^

I want more Rose and Dimitri interactions in the next book. ^^

The next book >>>  FROSTBITE
